After birth, excessive weight gain or excessive weight loss, there may be sagging and excess skin on the abdomen. In general, there are 4 problems with such patients:
- Sagging and excess in the lower abdomen
- There is a bulge in the abdomen as a result of the separation of the abdominal muscles in the abdominal area (two right and left muscles called rectus muscles form the structure of the anterior abdominal wall), this situation is called diastasis recti.
- Widespread stretch marks (striae), especially in the lower abdomen
- Fat in the upper abdomen, waist arch and waist area (above the butt)
For these problems;
-Liposuction in the upper abdomen, waist arch and waist area (above the butt),
-Diastasis recti repair and
-The excess tissue containing stretch marks in the lower abdomen should be removed and the abdominal skin should be tightened.
Before the surgery, a detailed interview and examination (especially abdominal hernia examination) is performed, blood tests, heart electrocardiography and lung x-ray are taken, and the approval of the anesthesiologist is obtained. If a hernia is detected in the anterior abdominal wall, general surgery consultation is requested for hernia repair and a general surgery specialist also participates in the surgery.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia (full sleep) in a full-fledged hospital. The surgery takes approximately 2-3 hours. During the surgery, excess fat in the upper buttock, waist fold area and upper abdomen is removed with liposuction. An incision is made in the form of an extended cesarean section scar on both sides, remaining inside the underwear, and the abdominal skin and fat tissue are removed from the abdominal muscle, preserving the belly button. If there is separation in the abdominal muscles, the separated abdominal muscles are repaired, the excess tissue in the lower abdomen is removed, and the belly is placed in its new place. If there is an abdominal hernia, the hernia is repaired at the same time by a general surgeon.
After the surgery, the patient wears a special corset and compression stockings, and is given liquid foods 4-6 hours after the surgery, and then solid food is started. On the same day, after eating, he can walk, provided that he is slightly bent, and he is hospitalized for at least two days and discharged. It can be washed two days after the discharge date, no dressing is done, and no stitches are removed because dissolvable stitches are used.
Absolute rest is recommended for 7-10 days, you can start your business life and daily activities after 10-15 days, you need to wear a special corset for about 1 month.
